Here is a recap of a week with many challenges and triumphs. The first challenge was a ‘Pedal Against Child Abuse' in which Damien Rider Athlete rode a 100kg 1950’s Rickshaw 260km from Noosa to Surfers Paradise.
The second was a ‘Push Against Child Abuse’ in which Damien and supporters pushed a 2 tonne Ute from Surfers Paradise to Coolangatta.
The third challenge was a ‘Paddle Against Child Abuse’ in which Damien and a group of supporters paddled from Coolangatta to Currumbin.
There were also 2 community events. A free open air cinema screening of the movie ‘Heart of the Sea’, a documentary of Damien Riders 800km unassisted paddle from the Gold Coast to Sydney. Secondly a free stand-up paddle session at Currumbin Boatshed.
The purpose of the Child Abuse Awareness Week was to create a strong community awareness, and a movement to inspire and support others giving them a voice to help transform their lives against and beyond child abuse.
